What a week we had

What a week we had in Walsingham. Just a few days away but we experienced so much. So here are a few highlights of the past few days for you to enjoy on your journey home or to watch or listen from a distance at any time.

Monday

It was a long journey but always worth it in the end. We arrived seeking the One whom our heart loved!

After Supper, we gathered in the Holy House for the First Visit, and celebrated Mass for the Feast of St Mary Madgalene

Pilgrimage is about moving on and the Procession of Our Lady of Walsingham reminded us that she is Mother of the Church, and the first Christian pilgrim.

You can listen to the sounds of the day and this evening’s homily here as Fr Dean takes us on a journey from his home in Butetown, and introduces us to a few little giants as we stand with Mary Magdalen at the empty tomb

Alternatively, you can read it here

Tuesday

It’s our first full day at the Shrine, and there was so much to look forward to. After a good night’s sleep we made the move

After breakfast (and we always get fed well here!) Fr Richard Green led us to the well and the water before we gathered in groups for Intercessions

You can listen again to Fr Richard’s reflection here:

Our morning Mass celebrated St Bridget of Sweden who was drawn to the poor

You can listen again to the homily here:

In the afternoon, we visited the Roman Catholic Shrine at the Slipper Chapel. Many people walk the distance, the Holy Mile, sometimes barefoot. Fr Dean chose not to take the penitential route but he was out of breath towards the end!

At the Evening Liturgy of Healing we gathered for story and song as we heard the testimonies of two pilgrims and received the gentle ministry of healing.

The Sounds of this evening includes stories and testimonies from Tiffany and Sarah who share their experiences of Walsingham and how important pilgrimage to the Shrine has been for them. You can listen to them here, as well as the homily from Fr Dean

Wednesday

In the morning, we made our way through the Shrine Church and gardens for the Stations of the Cross.

We always love to visit and celebrate Mass at the Parish Church where we celebrated Mass of Our Lady of Walsingham.

Listen to the homily here, as we move to the muddy cradle to find miracles.

At the “Enter the Mystery” Drinks Reception we enjoyed fellowship (and Pims!)

A time of Eucharistic Adoration, Procession and Benediction gathered together Day 3 of our pilgrimage.

Listen to the homily here, as we reflect on the free food offered by Christ:

Thursday

Today is always a day of mixed emotions. Sadness at having to leave, but there is always a joy as we give thanks for all the blessings received.

Our final Mass was of St James, Apostle, followed by our Last Visit to the Holy House

You can listen to the homily from the Mass here as we explore what it means to be influenced by Mary and how we can influence others for the good!

And then it’s the Last Visit to the Holy House of England’s Nazareth, as we say Farewell to Mary’s Shrine

Thank you to all pilgrims whose faith and devotion, enthusiasm and fun helped to create an amazing pilgrimage filled with many blessings.

Matthew Music Medley

A medley of music from Matthew Lewis out organist during the pilgrimage. Thanks to him and all the cantors who enriched and enlivened our worship.
